Note: Corrido about young Silva, of Bernalillo, who was killled in October 1932, by an Anglo con-man passing bad checks and hoping to rob Silva's gas station. A hate crime against Hispanics. CD details the story. Includes the corrido, text, notes, photos, translations, newspaper articles, a facsimile of the Silva corrido broadside and photos of the Silva Saloon, opened after the tragedy. Corrido by Ramon Luna, 1933. Voice and arrangment by David F. Garcia; guitar, A.J. Martinez; trumpet, Michael Martinez. Produced by Enrique Lamadrid and research assistant, David F. Garcia. Foundational research by Reuben Montoya and Felipe Gonzales. Peregrino Productions, with support from UNM Southwest Hispanic Research Institute and Chicano Hispano Mexicano Studies. This CD is loaded on Lobovault.
