GOODBYE, MONIQUE (75), March 28, 2017

 File — Box: 193, Folder: 6

Scope and Contents

BOOK TWO that is labelled Jmonique.18g. The book about Dad and Johnny's lives after Monique's death in 1942. Ends with Dad's death in 1998. Always refers to my search for Monique; my time with French relatives; my grilling of Pop about Monique, and his inability to talk much about her. And powerful sections of being with him as he died. A clean draft that contains a few deleted chapters and some Post-Its. I liked the manuscript and considered it close . . . but not quite there. 175 pages.
