WIZARD OF LONELINESS ALBUM, BRISTOL, VT., DEC. 2-8, 1987

 File — Box: 183

Scope and Contents

126 color snapshots taken on the set of the filming of my novel, The Wizard of Loneliness, in Bristol, Vermont, first week of December, 1987. Featuring the director, Jenny Bowen; her husband, Dick Bowen, the cinemaphotographer; Chuck Myers, the first assistant AD (who also worked with Redford on "Milagro"). Child actor, Lukas Haas, and other kid actors, and longtime actors John Randolph, Anne Pitoniak, and Lea Thompson. Also my wife Juanita, and my friends Michael and Karen Kimmel, who drove up from New York to watch. Elsewhere in my archives are photos (slides and prints) from the filming of Wizard, and my 24-page journal of the week I witnessed the action, and an article I wrote for Film Comment magazine about the experience. (That material is in Box 41, Folder 1.) This album may duplicate some of those photos, yet it may add some also. One day, while in Bristol, I drove over to Montpelier, Vermont, to visit the house where my stepmother, Brownie Gleason Nichols, grew up, on 1 Spring Street in Montpelier. There are a couple of photos of that house, which I used (the house) in the Wizard novel. A wonderful old house I first visited in 1945. It had been turned into dentists' offices.
