Scope and Contents
Black album with LIVE * LAUGH * LOVE on the cover. 110 color photos of: John and Juanita, in Taos, and in Europe autumn of 1987, including a visit to my French family's home in Port-Blanc, Brittany, where I got to meet my French Aunt Lo Bouchage Weymouth (mother of Tina Weymouth, bass player for Talking Heads!), her sister Mayette Bouchage Meneng Collos, and Lo's husband Ralph Weymouth, at their house in Port-Blanc, where my great-grandfather Anatole Le Braz lived, and my mother, Monique, spent her childhood summers. These Port-Blanc pictures are followed by 16 old B&W photos of my mother, Monique, when she was young and first came to America in the 1930s (when she was 17) and traveled out west. Also there are photos of my friend Susan Crutchfield in Saguache, Colorado, 1997; of grouse-hunting and fishing expeditions, 1998; of my friend Mike Kimmel's wife, Karen, celebrating Mike's life (he died in 1997) with me and Susan Crutchfield on the edge of the Rio Grande Gorge (July 5, 1998). Too, there are candid pics of me, my brother Dave, and son Luke, in Smithville, Texas, August of 1999, putting Pop's archives into a storage locker after his death. Next pictures in the album are of pike fishing the Rio Grande with Taylor Streit and his son, Nick, April 11, 2010. We all caught fish, even me. A-fucking-mazing! There follows a pot pourri of shots of me with Bill Whaley and Lenny Foster; and with Lynn and Michael Mares; and with Jack Loeffler; and a picture of Marco, Sierra, Tania, and Solana Harris; and of Lucinda Nichols with Betita MartÃnez's puppy; of me and Karen Vargas; Of Luke and Lucy at an outdoor table; of a fat pika; of Maureen McCoy on the Williams Lake trail; of me and Bill Rusin; then a bunch of pictures of Rick Smith, good pal and owner of Brodsky Bookshop, playing guitar, photo by his wife Morris Witten, but I Adobe Photoshopped it (my first tries at this), to make it brighter. Finally, there are my Adobe Photoshop versions of a picture of Alan Howard and Mike Kimmel cleaning a striped bass on June 10, 1991. In my decrepitude (February 2014, age 73) I was starting to get into it. Photography has changed!
