NICHOLS/HARRIS OLD-FASHIONED FAMILY ALBUM, 1996-2013
File — Box: 183, Folder: unfoldered
Scope and Contents
185 color photos of many events. Thanksgiving in Albuquerque, 1996, when my dad (age 79) and his wife Jackie visited me, Luke, Ruby, Tania and her fiance Marco Harris, and Luke's girl Janine. Then there's Tania and Marco's May 11, 1996, graduation from UNM, with me, Luke, Ruby, Tania, Marco's mom Judy Harris, Luke's girl Shaleena, and many of Ruby's siblings and our friends rooting Marco and Tootie on. The after-graduation party features friends like John Randall, Ellen Souberman, Emily Baca, Mary Marphisee. Then comes Tania and Marco's wedding in Corrales on July 4, 1998. It includes many snapshots of extended family members, including my brothers Dave and Tim and Tim's wife Helen, Marco's dad Monroe, mom Judy, sister Anthea and her 2 boys, Coby and Keagan, and pals like Karen Krause Kimmel, my buds Em Hall and son Gavin, Dori Vinella, Andy Lenderman, Frank, Henry, and Mary Perry-Marphisee, John Randall and wife Micaela. Next, we get a battle of the tummies when Tootie is pregnant with Solana Harris in 1999, followed by pictures of Solana Harris's birth on April 18, 1999. Then comes the birth of Sierra Harris on May 25, 2001, with candid pics of mom, infant, and goofy family just moments after the "blessed event." No rest for the weary, however, and Luke and his partner, Dale Johnson's daughter, Lucinda Nichols, came along on November 23, 2003, with candid pics of Lucy and family an hour or two after her arrival featuring Dale's mom, Sarah Lawrence. Soon, the kids grow up, Lucy is 2, Solana and Sierra are a bit older, and we follow them all during their kiddie years. Mixed in are family trips to the summit of Lake Fork Peak; old folks' birthday parties; many family and friends at Dale and Luke's fiesta of togetherness highlighted by my stepmother Brownie's appearance, my brother Tim's recital of Shakespeare, and friends like Soge and Jeri Track and Ron and Carol Kalom, and the super fiddling music of Dale's stepdad, Ted Lawhorn, a professional bluegrass player. The album ends with a couple of shots of me playing guitar, and Tania, Marco, Solana, and Sierra embracing aspen leaves on Italianos Trail near Taos on October 28, 2013. The entire album is a vision of life just like Grandma used to bake!
