Scope and Contents
15 pages in this album with many snapshots, lots of them pretty bad, but they had connections I didn't want to throw away. I've tried to identify each photo by writing on the back of it. Page 1: Letter from Diana Simon, lawyer when Reies Tijerina sued "Milagro"...she visited Taos with her husband, July 1990, 2 photos. Page 2: Dave, John, Luke, and Tania Nichols in Colorado Springs beside my Dad's Chevy Impala, July 1973, 1 photo. Page 3: Sylvia Landfair, JTN, Michael Martin Murphey, Mary Murphey at Mary and Michael's wedding, undated, 1 photo--Michael is a well known country and cowboy singer. Page 4: 1 photo of JTN with Sam Orr's L.A. buddy at Sam's 60th birthday party, Rodarte, NM, August 1999...also 2 photos of me with Gunnison friend, Rod Rogers and his grandkids, August 1999. Page 5: 2 photos of me with Angela and Bruno Speziale, friends from Italy, at my Taos house on Valverde Street, summer 1993. Page 11: 4 B&W photos of me with Mary Marphisee at Solano Drive in Albuquerque, Spring 1992, when I was teaching at UNM. Page 12: 4 B&W photos of me on Solano Drive, Spring 1992, with Mary Marphisee and Lisa Newton (a student in my "Writer and Society" class at UNM), and 1 color photo of me at dinner in Burque with Mary Marphisee and Jan Black during Jan's birthday, March 1992 (Jan owned the Solano Drive houses Mary and I lived in). Page 14: One large B&W photo of me on Taos mesa with McSavaney Photo Workshop participants (undated, but hadda be an August between 1988-1998!); and 1 large color photo of me walking on the mesa (in December 1992) by a New Mexican photographer named Steve somebody (I forget his name, but the paper published a big article on the mesa around that date). Access Restrictions
The collection is open for research, however, researchers must sign consent form prior to gaining access to materials. Calavera drawings, proofs, and etchings as well as "little diaries" (Boxes 14, 125, 126, 129, 142) are housed in high security and may require up to 24 hours for retrieval. Enlarged photocopies and typed transcriptions of "little diaries" in Box 142 are located in Box 184.
