JTN, TTN, DGN, VISIT POP IN SMITHVILLE, TX, JAN. 1997

 File — Box: 181, Folder: 62

Scope and Contents

This album contains 92 color snapshots taken at my dad's home in Smithville, TX., between January 22-27, 1997. This was the last time that by brothers Dave and Tim and I were all together with our old man. It was approximately one year before he died. (He died April 13, 1998.) (My 36-page journal covering this visit can be found in my journal/diary files, in archival Box 137, folder 9.) This album shows my dad's house on 4th Street, Smithville; my brothers Tim and Dave and our father in various situations; us posing on Dad's porch with the Smithville Times newspaper editor, Metta Johnson; all of us holding up a dead flicker, (my brother Dave wears glasses, brother Tim doesn't); pictures of Pop holding up a starling I snuck into his fridge's freezer compartment; Dad, Dave, and I walking in Beuscher State Park near Smithville where Pop went every day with his dog Scholar; and pictures of me, Dave, and Dad at Beuscher Lake, glassing birds with binoculars. Also photos of Pop walking a Beuscher forest road with Scholar. And there's a newspaper photo of we 3 boys with our dad that was printed in the Smithville Times, February 6, 1997.
