"JUST CALL ME JOE," DIRECTED BY ADAN GARCÍA FOR UNM, 2012

 Item — Box: 180, DVD: 20

Scope and Contents

This is a fun documentary on Joe Cisneros of Questa; he was the subject of my first article for the NM Review in 1970, "A Man With a Previous Record." Joe had been fired by the Molybdenum Mine in Questa. This film is about Joe's life of activism against the Molybdenum Mine in Questa, and in his other endeavors. Film produced and directed by Adan García with much help from Rick Shepardson, Dr. Judith White, and Patricia Rael and others in Questa and at UNM. Made with a grant from the Department of Communication and Journalism at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Features long interviews with David Rael, Erminio Martínez, John Nichols, and, of course, Joe Cisneros himself, who is really fun to listen to. I was 30 when I first met Joe and he inspired the Joe Mondragón character in Milagro. Now I'm 73! Joe is even older! Two bullshitters who lived to a ripe old age despite our obnoxiousness! What fun!
