58 typed pages. They include: Car disasters, movie options, lots of friends, fun with grandkids in Albuquerque, and a book signing/speechifying. Also alpine hikes on July 19, 21, 23, 27, 28, and 31. BY NOW, ALPINE HIKING HAD BECOME MY RAISON D'ÊTRE, AND WOULD REMAIN SO FOR THE NEXT 6 YEARS. I WAS ENRAPTURED BY RAVENS AND BIGHORN SHEEP AND RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS AND ALPINE BOTANY AND THE WORKS OF BERND HEINRICH (RAVENS IN WINTER, MIND OF THE RAVEN), ANN ZWINGER (LAND ABOVE THE TREES), VALERIUS GEIST (MOUNTAIN SHEEP, MOUNTAIN SHEEP AND MAN IN THE NORTHERN WILDS), AND DWIGHT SMITH (ABOVE TIMBERLINE).

Access Restrictions

The collection is open for research, however, researchers must sign consent form prior to gaining access to materials. Calavera drawings, proofs, and etchings as well as "little diaries" (Boxes 14, 125, 126, 129, 142) are housed in high security and may require up to 24 hours for retrieval. Enlarged photocopies and typed transcriptions of "little diaries" in Box 142 are located in Box 184.
