Scope and Contents

40 typed pages. Work on "An American Child Supreme" and "The Voice of the Butterfly" and "Duende." Library conference speech. Many visitors. Dysfunctional logistics. Trip to Pueblo, Colorado, to see pal Dan Gerber in a car race (fear, fascination, trembling, Juan Ramon Jimenez). Myriad nit-picking obligations. Terrible Los Alamos forest fire. People galore. "Magnifico" rap. Honorary degrees from UNM and my alma mater, Hamilton. Family hijinks. Moaning about self-destruction. Jousting with literary agent. Walking on mesa. Alpine hiking to Bull of the Woods. Complain, complain, and wait for rain.
