Little Red Diary, 1957

 File — Box: 142

Scope and Contents

CALENDARIO. IN SPANISH. 2 and 3/4 x 4 and 1/4 INCHES. In the front pocket are 3 pictures of my girlfriend Linda Boyes, one of Kim Novak (showing off her breasts), and 4 hockey ticket stubs with my notes on them for a Harvard-Yale game, a Springfield Indians game, a New York Rangers-Montreal game, and an RPI-St. Lawrence game I attended with my Loomis friend Terry "Tiger" Cordner who lived in Troy: We venerated RPI, especialy the Chiarelli brothers. (Later, my freshman year at Hamilton, I played against RPI and the last Chiarelli brother! Gasp! Faint!) Front pocket also contains a Windsor, CT. movie stub to "Anything But the Truth" and "The Shark Fighters." There's also a ticket from an Agua Prieta, Mexico, bullfight I attended on August 4, 1957. And ticket stubs to a Yankee-Dodger exhibition game April 13, 1957 at Ebbets Field that the Yankees won 5-4, and a ticket stub to a June 8, 1957 Dodger-Cincinnati game at Ebbets Field the Dodgers won 9-2. In the pocket is also a note from MHB, Morris Henry Brown, an English prof at Loomis, wanting to see my novella "The Journey," which I wrote at Loomis after my 1957 summer out west. (See THE JOURNEY in BOX 1, FOLDERS 1-2.) In this diary I filled in every day from January 1-October 20. Diary is empty from Oct. 21-Nov. 22. Then I wrote from Nov. 23-Dec. 17 during my senior year at Loomis. Diary includes my wonderful trip out west, summer 1957. And meeting and falling in love with Linda Boyes on November 23, 1957. I kept track of every Dodger baseball game with smiling or sad cartoons atop each entry until June 1, then I stopped.
