This BROWN "FAUX ALLIGATOR" ALBUM contains 402 mostly yellow message slips largely written by Juanita Nichols between February 20, 1987 and August 12, 1988.
To identify a few of the names mentioned which may not be clarified in the actual message scribbles: Perry Knowlton, my agent at Curtis Brown in NY; Philip and Mary-Ann Hobel, producers connected to CBS working on my Pancho Villa TV mini-series; Sarah McFall, publicist at my publisher, Henry Holt; Kelly Lovato, Chicano activist from Denver (they boycotted 1988 Milagro benefit opening in Denver because Coors Beer funded it!); Leo Garen, my "Hollywood" friend, director, screenwriter; David Barber, foreign rights at my NY agency, Curtis Brown; Bill Rusin, head of sales and editor at W.W. Norton in NY; Sarah Black, working with Robert Redford; Tim Knowlton, my film agent at Curtis Brown in NY; Peter Biskind, editor at Premiere Magazine; Pat Reed, editor of Impact Magazine, Albuquerque Journal; Kit Miniclier, reporter Denver Post; David Steinberg, reporter Albuquerque Journal; Emily Drabanski, editor NM Magazine; Robbi Miller, Redford assistant; Anne Moore, TV reporter; Maria Varela, organizer of Tierra Wools in Tierra Amarilla (involved in Milagro S.Fe benefit opening); Marian Wood, my editor at Holt; Andrés Martínez, Taos leader of 3 Rios Assn, Milagro novel dedicated to him and 3 Rios; Madge Baird, my editor at Gibbs Smith Books; Sammye Meadows, Redford asst.; Mary Lugo, publicist from Skouras Pictures which was funding film of "Wizard of Loneliness," also shooting in 1987; Lois Rudnick, author of a book on Mabel Dodge Lujan; Michael Lessac, producer with option on my novel "A Ghost in the Music;" Harlan Jacobson, of Film Comment Magazine--I did article for them.

Access Restrictions
The collection is open for research, however, researchers must sign consent form prior to gaining access to materials. Calavera drawings, proofs, and etchings as well as "little diaries" (Boxes 14, 125, 126, 129, 142) are housed in high security and may require up to 24 hours for retrieval. Enlarged photocopies and typed transcriptions of "little diaries" in Box 142 are located in Box 184.
