The collection is divided into four series consisting of White's personal and academic writings, research materials, and biographical information.
Biographical Information (1962-2002) consists of thirty-four personal journals which detail White's daily routines and special outings, as well as published biographal information, military records, and White's M.A. thesis "Water Table Response to Barometric Pressure Changes" (1971).
"Artists of Territorial New Mexico, 1846-1912" (1856 -2006) contains White's research for his dissertation, including artist files, chapter topics, and information on Dr. Thomas "Doc" Martin, a Taos entrepreneur. Artists include: Gerald Cassidy, Josefina Otero, Peter Moran, and Frederic Remington, among others.
"Taos Society of Artists" (1847-2005), the title of his 1983 book, includes advertisements and research files pertaining to this book as well as a small section on the artist Gene Kloss, a Taos etcher/print-maker. Artists of the Taos School of Art include E.L. Blumenschein and Regina Cooke.
Academic Interests and Scholarly Writings (1891-2007) documents White’s literary and academic record. Writings, lectures, research files, and audio interviews with E.A. Hernández, M.P. Hernández and Felix Martinez are included, as is information on E. Martin Hennings and Marc Simmons
Addition Collection: processed in 2017 basically parallels the original accession. Series include: Biographical; Artists - Research and Writing; Taos Art Colony and Taos Society of Artists (TSA); Robert White (RW) Writings and Research; Other Resources. Material of particular significance in this series relates to Ernest Blumenschein, E. Martin Hennings, and Bert Geer Phillips.
