Scope and Content

From the Collection: The Channell Graham Job Files pertain primarily to architectural projects in New Mexico. The majority of the projects are city, state and county public buildings; parks and recreational facilities; historical restorations; public housing projects; private residences; commercial and industrial projects; and religious and educational institutions throughout New Mexico. Graham is well known for his historic restorations at Taos, Nambé, Picuris, Laguna, Tesuque and San Ildefonso Pueblos; and the San Miguel Mission, Socorro, which is considered one of his most significant restorations, with twin towers and triple crosses over the entrance. Graham’s most notable projects included in this collection are the Paolo Soleri American Indian Theatre (Santa Fe, NM), Acoma Sky City Master Plan (Acoma, NM), and the Sioux Indian Cultural Center (Rapid City, SD). Notable Albuquerque projects include the Rio Grande Zoo Master Plan (the Feline Exhibit with cottonwoods and waterfalls was awarded the 1968 American Institute of Architects award of merit); and the Indian Assembly of God Church.
