Ranching in New Mexico - Films and written description of events on films,, 1935-1966

 Collection — Folder: 1

Scope and Content

From the Collection: These black and white and color home movies were made by Arlie F. Kennedy between approximately 1935 and 1966. They are a record of ranch and rural life, including working livestock (cattle, sheep and horses) in and around central New Mexico during that period. The footage is mostly of Homer and Milton Berkshire and their families, the Kennedy family and events that took place in the Estancia Valley on the Berkshire Brothers ranches. Some of the footage takes place on the L-Bar Ranch which is in the Mount Taylor area west of Albuquerque. There are also scenes of a parade in Albuquerque, a picnic in the Manzano Mountains southeast of Albuquerque, and rodeos. The accompanying text, by Dr. George Kennedy, Arlie F. Kennedy's son and nephew to Homer and Milton Berkshire, describes the events on the film and gives background information about the events.
