The Personal and Family Papers (1905-2006) contain information, photographs and an oral interview about Harry Kinney and his family, including his parents, Earl Oliver and Opal Kinney, In the oral interview Harry Kinney discusses the Kinney family history and Albuquerque political history. Earl Oliver and Harry both worked for the railroad and this series includes their material on railroads in northern New Mexico. This series also contains certificates, plaques, correspondence and documents showing Harry Kinney's involvement with community organizations such as the National Atomic Museum Foundation.
The series Political and Public Life (1929-1990) covers Harry Kinney's terms as Bernalillo County Councilman and Mayor of Albuquerque. Documented are Albuquerque issues including roadways, water resources, recreational facilities, the Convention Center and solid waste. A small scrapbook covers his first term as mayor, 1974-1976. There is also material on the Conference of Mayors (1982) and the launch of the SSN Albuquerque in 1983.
The Americans for Rational Energy Alternatives (AREA) Records contain bylaws, articles of incorporation, board of director agendas, minutes, correspondence, reports and budgets for 1977-1992. The Americans for Rational Energy Alternatives Newsletter is also included as well as a DVD copy of the 1980 TV show on uranium mining in New Mexico, "Uranium: Fact or Fiction." This series also includes information on the disposal of nuclear waste and the Waste Isolation Power Plant (WIPP) in New Mexico.
The Memorabilia series contains material from 1942-1984 including a cap honoring the launch of the SSN Albuquerque, political pins, photograph album and a scrapbook containing photographs, brochures, clippings, postcards, correspondence, bumper stickers, etc. covering Harry Kinney's political and personal life from 1942-1974.
