Scope and Contents
Folder includes a copy of a letter to J.H. Allison from his mother in Granby, Connecticut, December 30, 1908. Mrs. Allison discusses cold remedies, measures for coping with cold weather, her son’s visit to El Tovar at the Grand Canyon, buying land, and giving to the church. Copy of the publication “The National Forest Service: In the Beginning, Photos and History of Early Days on the Southwest Region 3”, prepared by Lila Eisenhower, Pine/Strawberry Museum. The publication includes reproductions of selected photographs taken by J. H. Allison, 1906-1908, during his work for the Forest Service along with transcriptions of Allison's original captions. (Digital copies of Allison’s original photos are on the CD in this collection.) Copy of an undated newspaper article circa 1973 about the life and work of “John W. Allison” (sic). Copy of a short letter from J.H. Allison to Gifford Pinchot, May 14, 1908.
