Scope and Contents

In this small “A Line A Day” journal, Allison recounts daily Forest Service work in Washington, D.C., Arkansas and in various locations in New Mexico and Arizona. He also discusses land purchases and a period of real estate work in Fresno, California, 1911-1912, while affiliated with the real estate office of Merriam & Hambleton. Allison often details daily weather conditions as well as personal experiences and social activities. Includes observations on localities and personal encounters in New Mexico and Arizona. Some entries record thoughts on politics, including reflections on the vote in California for women’s suffrage in 1911 and Allison's opinions on the 1912 United States presidential election. Also recorded is a honeymoon journey by train, across Canada from Montreal to Vancouver and then south to Fresno, California. A few entries discuss tobacco work in Granby, Connecticut. Includes memoranda of important dates and events at the end.
