Scope and Contents

Transcriptions and copies of historical documents pertaining to Fort Wingate, many with citations to original documents. One series of documents from Rodgers Library, Highlands University, New Mexico, dates mostly to the late 1860s and concerns various details of fort operations, including interactions with Zunis and Apaches and addressing such matters as courts martial, post construction, and the conduct of military personnel and employees. Most documents in this series include a later transcription attached to the original transcription, and some also include a photocopy. Also includes photocopies and transcriptions of 1870 and 1881 documents relating to the creation and extension of Fort Wingate Military Reservation; two receipts for the order of copies of historical documents from the National Archives and Records Service, 1958; and a Letter of Welcome from the US Army Supply and Maintenance Command, 1962.
