Scope and Content

From the Collection: The collection contains 138 photographs (mostly black & white) and three photo albums from T. Lynn Smith's work, travel, and sociological research in Latin America. The majority of photos were taken in Brazil and Colombia between 1940 and the early 1960s, focusing on rural and urban architecture and daily life. Some photos were taken by Arthur Ramos and Ken Spain, while others came from governmental agencies in Brazil and the United States. Aerial views, portraits, and scenery comprise a significant portion of the collection. Photo descriptions are in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
