Scope and Contents

  1. Document 4: License of alienation. Edmund Staunton Esq. to Robert Anny and Henry Stuttesbury, of Manor of Smewnes...Saulsbury and Stoke Hammond. Signed by Edward Stanhope, D.C.L., using the great seal of England. 13 February 27th Elizabeth (1585), in Latin. (Vellum, with attached Great Seal, partly broken, originally with a diameter of about 5" and depicting Queen Elizabeth seated on her throne holding a globe of the world, with on the verso Elizabeth riding a horse.)
  2. Document 8: (Deed?) "Be it known unto all Christian people... that I, Edmund Poley of Badley in the county of Suffolk, esquire, have given and granted and by this my deede doo give and graunt unto... Jos.(?) Poley...." Document mentions "Ladey Queene Elizabeth". 1611. (Vellum, with wax seal attached.)
  3. Document 9: Mortgage. Jo. Blow to Wm. Denning, Feoffment of a house in Eye. Said condition to be void on payment of xx lb. 4 May 1619, in Latin. (Vellum, attached wax seal, broken, missing about half.)
