Summary: Folder covers a broad spectrum of topics regarding cédulas y provisions for the colony, including the relationship between church and state in New Spain during the 16th century. Notable is the occasionally antagonistic relationship between the religious orders and the Viceroy of New Spain. Themes – complaints of the missionaries against the prelates and vice versa; conflict between the religious and the government; critique of the jobs done by all of them; discussion of the construction of monasteries, education, conversión, treatment and care of the Indians; and giving them the sacraments. References to the native areitos, dances, games and voladores.
