Scope and Contents
Summary: Initial impressions and memories of New Spain written by Bishop Zumárraga. Includes details of topography of the region and personal criticisms on the part of the bishop of the conquistadores and their lack of commitment to develop the land and help the native communities. Zumárraga also gives his views of the Indians, the reasons for their poor condition, their skills and potential. He also calls for develepment of the extensive resources and economy of New Spain, details items, crops, and technology needed from Spain for the new land and suggests possible businesses and products for the Indians to sell. Folder includes Spanish transcription and English translation.

Sumario: Impresiones y memorias de Nueva España escritas por Arzobispo Zumárraga. Incluso detalles topográficos de la región y criticismo de los conquistadores y su falta de interés en desarrollar la tierra y ayudar a las comunidades indígenas. También incluye su opinión de los indios, la razón para su probreza, sus habilidades y futuro. El pide el fomento de los recursos extensivos de la tierra, con detalles de cosas, plantas y tecnología sacados de España y necesarios para mejorar la situación, y negocios y productos posibles para los indios. Plegador contiene la transcripción en español y la traslación en inglés.
