Summary: Contents include Spanish typescript and English translation of legajo 1203 cited above. Also included is an English translation of doc. 1201without Spanish version. Both documents refer to tensions between royal officials and clergymen. Legajo 1203 is a letter from Fray Juan de Paredes, from Panuco, to the Franciscan caretaker, who had severely punished and tortured both Paredes and the Indians of his mission for complaining against the caretaker. Legajo 1201 tells of the torture and persecution of three other friars by Nuño de Guzmán for their complains against his deeds and mistreatment of the Indians; prevention of their trip to Spain to tell the King and theft of their letters detailing the crimes. The friars are: Antonio de Avendano, Juan de Angayo, and Juan de Montemayor.

Ambos documentos refieren a tensiones entre oidores y clérigos. Tema de 1203 – la persecución de Fray Juan de Paredes y unos indios de su misión, de Panuco, por su custodio franciscano, por las quejas que ellos han hecho contra el custodio. Tema de 1201 – la persecución de tres otros frailes por Guzmán a causa de sus quejas y contras sus acciones y maltratamiento de los nativos; interupción de su viaje a España a informar al rey; y el robo de sus cartas con detalles de los crímenes. Los frailes eran: Antonio de Avendano, Juan de Angayo, y Juan de Monemayor.
