Summary: Folder contains petitions and statements regarding the handling and dismantling of the encomienda system in New Spain by the Audiencia. Opinions in this folder are of encomenderos who are in danger of having their encomiendas usurped by the royal authority. Portrayal of situation in New Spain as grim and hostile and only due to worsen if encomenderos are stripped of their labor grants. Fifty points are included regarding encomiendas and the supposed poor management and enforcement of laws by local magistrates. English translation of documents.
