Summary: Most of the documents contained refer to tithe collection in New Spain, yet some documents referring to tithe collection in Peru also are included. Folder chronicles tithe collection in the region over a ten year period of time as well as royal decrees referring to tithe collection. Also included are documents referring to the treatment of Indians in New Spain and their adherence to the encomienda system.
