Scope and Content
From the Collection:
The collection contains material pertaining to two main topics: the split of the Republican Party at their 1932 New Mexico State convention, and the controversy created by a purposed survey to establish the level of racism among Anglo and Hispanic high school students in 1933. Materials on the split of the Republican Party discuss Bronson M. Cutting, Arthur Seligman, and Progressivism. Items relating to the racism survey look at the involvement of the University of New Mexico, George I. Sanchez, and Professor Richard M. Page. The scrapbook contains English and Spanish newspaper articles that follow these events. The folders contain some speeches, correspondence, and notes of Antonio A. Sedillo on these two topics.
