Scope and Content

From the Collection: The César Graña papers contain his research materials relevant to the culture and history of Spain. The bulk of the collection is made up of xeroxed copies of articles, chapters, and poems. It also contains newspaper clippings, extensive notes, photographs, and maps. The collection is divided into seven series: I: History and Culture of Spain, II: Religion, III: Sevilla, IV: Andalucia, Gitanos (Gypsies), and Flamenco, V: Corridas de Torros, IV: Publications and Typescripts, and VII: Personal Information. Most of the collection is in Spanish.

The small photographic component has been transferred to photoarchives and the maps are housed in an oversized folder.

A published biography of César Graña and an audiotape of a conference on bullfighting that took place in Sevilla, Spain in approximately 1975 were added to the collection in September, 1998. Additional materials were added in June 2002. Most of these materials are contained in Box 4, however, a few pieces were interfiled within the existing collection.
