Scope and Content

From the Collection: The Octaviano A. Larrazolo papers contain material relevant to the political history of New Mexico as well as that of San Elizario, El Paso County, Texas and the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. The collection includes correspondence, biographical information, legal documents, speeches, newspaper clippings, typescripts and a scrapbook composed primarily of newspaper clippings. The bulk of the collection is composed of material relating to Larrazolo's political career, 1885-1930. It also contains poignant correspondence between Larrazolo and his family, as well as correspondence of his father, 1841-1899. The collection was obtained from Eva Larrazolo, daughter-in-law of O. A. Larrazolo and was used extensively by her husband Paul F. Larrazolo as research material for his book Octaviano A. Larrazolo: A Moment in New Mexico History.

A small photographic component of the collection has been transferred to photo archives.
