New Mexico Principal Meridian townships, 1947

 File — Box: 190

Scope and Contents

From the Series: Includes rural tracts not within the limits of established towns or cities, as well as certain lots within the limits of some towns located in largely rural counties and described as additions to these towns or as subdivisions of said additions.

Certain other rural tracts may be found in the listing of the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District, as well as the listings of Atrisco, Gallegos and other grants listed above. These largely rural tracts are listed below as parts of counties in some cases and as townships in others. Locations of some tracts are described relative to the New Mexico Principal Meridian. In some cases there are rural tracts of land which were perhaps parts of large farms, ranches and homesteads, and these tracts do, occasionally, overlap into two or more counties. The county first listed on the title record is the county under which such documents are filed, but researchers may want to bear in mind that if a particular tract of this type cannot be found, a search through the records of bordering counties may prove fruitful.
