Correspondence, 1914.

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 5

Scope and Content

From the Collection: This collection consists of the personal papers of New Mexico farmer Frank R. Matthews (1835-c.1918). It is a relatively small collection, which has only 12 folders. A large part of the collection is comprised of correspondence to Mr. and Mrs. Matthews. There are few of his own writings. Most of the letters, generally concerning family matters, are from his two daughters and other relatives. Also, there are some business letters. Among the items of greatest interest might be two letters from Congressman Harvey Fergusson (1913) regarding Matthews' request for reappointment as the postmaster, and correspondence from his two friends, R. Cline and H.K. LaRue, revealing their political insights and viewpoints.
