Scope and Contents

Two reports by John D. Robb for Jack Gallagher, Cultural Affairs Officer, for January to June and July to November 1962. Robb had received a grant for travel and teaching in San Salvador. Report on car trip from Albuquerque to San Salvador, music classes there, music materials and a piano purchased, teaching classes and concerts in their home, Harriet's activities, guests, Robb paying the musicians, Robb conducting the National Orchestra, his lectures, concert and field recordings made, towns visited and cultures studied, Matachines dances, radio broadcasts, concert at the Embassy, people he met, friendliness of people, articles, Robb speaking Spanish, lectures, one on the Hispanic Folk Songs of New Mexico, with Robb singing in Spanish, accompanying himself with his guitar, etc. Comments on Communism in El Salvador, Fidel Castro, anti-American feeling, Alliance for Progress funding in San Salvador, etc.
