Scope and Content

From the Collection: This collection of 177 items, dated 1839-1932 with the bulk covering 1881-1887, focuses primarily on the Ladd family, their friends and colleagues, the Ramona School, and the University of New Mexico at Santa Fe. Ladd's autobiographical notes and diary, covering 1881-1884, concern the founding of the University of New Mexico at Santa Fe and the Ramona School. The collection also contains a handwritten notebook of 550 words in Apache and Navajo with some English equivalents, Ladd's notes for lectures on the education work in Santa Fe, and publications such as the 5th (1885-1886) and 6th(1886-1887) annual catalogues of the University of New Mexico at Santa Fe and the annual financial statement of the University for June 15, 1885 to August 16, 1886.
