Scope and Contents

This diary contains lesson plans and notes designed to develop student skills specific to boys and girls. Specific notes on the boys detail student names and skill, vocabulary lists on "house words," letters to the Red Cross, notes on "Safety Week," and notes on field trips to lumber yards. Notes for girls detail a flyer on "Girl Reserve Recognition Service Club," vocabulary on housewares and duties, flyers and notes on a student run fashion show. Scattered in the diary are maps of the world, photos from field trips, including one of children around a western fireplace, three at a house construction site, along with several student made color drawings of boats and aquatic crafts. The diary also contains administrative correspondence, grades, and student character sketches which discuss the age, social attitudes and living conditions of students.
