Scope and Contents

This diary opens with a review and evaluation of the current students, which are divided into A, B, and C categories. There is a good discussion of the role of the school as a "community school." Child developmental issues are discussed in detail throughout the diary. Throughout the year there is a growing emphasis on English vocabulary as well as U.S. national symbols and geography. There is also an increased mention and involvement of parents, for example, the teacher comments that the parents were glad that children were interviewing a local police officer. Teaching sessions including "The Pioneer Era."
