Mary Little, Nambe School - Grade Unknown (possibly 1st), 1938-1939

 Item — Box: 13, Diary: 2

Scope and Contents

This diary opens with notes concerning infrastructure developments at the school as well as the community at large. The teacher then discusses some visits to the community, and includes discussion of what the parents and children were wearing. There are also comments dealing with specific members of the Nambe community and their reactions towards "Anglos". There also appear to be political meetings of some sort being held in the community. Throughout this diary there are detailed comments on children and their abilities, as well as the teacher herself (apparently she had to miss her first day in 16 years). There are notes on library books and periodicals, as well as peppered comments on ranching and agricultural techniques. There is some discussion of a survey of some sort, though details are not given. At the end of the diary, the teacher mentions other schools. Also included in this diary are occasional drawings, a clipping from "Companion Gardens" and assorted notes, including one titled "The Objectives of Self-Realization".
