Scope and Content

From the Collection: The Elsberg papers consist of court documents related to Elsberg's complaint against his business partner Jacob Amberg and other New Mexico merchants in 1869. In the collection are transcripts of the original complaint and responses to the complaint by Herman Ilfeld, Samuel B. Wheelock, Adolph Letcher and Charles Ilfeld. In addition to these papers, several documents related to the establishment of a business by Charles Ilfeld in Tecolote, New Mexico, and his hiring of David Winternitz to run the business are included. One copy of a periodical, The Wool Record, is also included. Items are handwritten and typed.
