Scope and Content

From the Collection: These papers relate to the University of New Mexico, education in New Mexico, and Hodgin's writings. Boxes 1 and 2 contain his addresses and talks, 1880-1930, including some of his essays for the Ten Dons. In box 3 there are songs, poems and articles by Hodgin including his book, Rhymes from New Mexico, published in 1933. A large portion of this collection concerning education in New Mexico includes class books (grades, attendance, etc.), 1887-1924; University of New Mexico newspapers, photographs, catalogs, yearbooks, commencement programs, etc., 1892-1933; programs of the New Mexico Educational Association, Territorial Educational Association of New Mexico, Albuquerque Academy, commencement programs for various New Mexico high schools including Albuquerque High School, programs and brochures for the New West Education Commission; and annual reports of the Albuquerque Academy and Albuquerque Public Schools. Also in the collection are bulletins, trustee notices, programs, etc. for the First Congregational Church in Albuquerque. There is personal and business correspondence including correspondence concerning the Rhodes Scholarships, 1922-1932. The miscellaneous clippings, 1899-1932, and pamphlets cover such subjects as calendar reform, Humane Society, war, and Albuquerque as a place to invest and as a resort for lung ailments. Photographs have been transferred to the CSWR Pictorial Collections.
