Item — Box: 1
Scope and Content
From the Collection:
This collection pertains to transactions that Russell Nicholas oversaw while foreman of the stockyards in Albuquerque and Abajo, New Mexico, 1916-1928. The majority of the ten bound notebooks are for the Abajo stockyard. There are time books that list employees and how many hours they worked each day, descriptions of livestock, their destinations, and how many sheep, cattle, horses, goats, mules, hogs, etc. were unloaded for feed and rest. There is a volume of conductor's receipts showing such purchases as corn from the 48th Star Mills in Albuquerque and a Santa Fe "Seal Record Book," which records if "a seal was broken for any purpose or a seal is found broken and a new one put on a car passing your station..." The materials are handwritten and do not include an explanation by the author. The collection was previously called Russell R. Nicholas Records.
