Scope and Content
From the Collection:
The collection contains material related to a trip taken by Marshall Bond, his son, Marshall Jr., and Governor Miguel Otero and his wife in 1926 to investigate the events in the life of Billy the Kid. Items include correspondence primarily between Miguel Otero and Marshall Bond, and between Deluvina Maxwell, an elderly Navajo woman who knew Billy the Kid, and Marshall Bond. Also included is one letter from Susan E. Barber (formerly Mrs. Alexander McSween), three letters from Marshall Bond Jr. about the collection, clippings about Billy the Kid, and handwritten notes by Marshall Bond Sr. about Billy the Kid, probably from the Lincoln County interviews.. Some of the letters are annotated. Nineteen related photographs were transferred to CSWR Pictorial Collections.
