Scope and Contents Series I: Los Matachines de Alcalde contains photographs of the Matachines dances in northern New Mexico, a tradition shared by Pueblo and Hispano communities. Hall took this series of photographs in Alcalde in the 1980s. Some of the photos in this set were done for a New Mexico Magazine piece in 1986.

Scope and Contents Photos in in Series II: The Border are related to Hall's 1988 book "The Border: Life on the Line" and feature images taken along the US border with Mexico.

Scope and Contents Photos related to Hall's 1988 book "In Prison" and 1997 book "Prison Tattoos." Many images feature the tattoo art of inmates in New Mexico prisons
