Scope and Content

Collection of 3914 35mm slides and 329 postcards, negatives, photographs, cassette tapes and 4x5" transparencies of New Mexico historical architecture, Hopi Housing architecture, Pueblo adobe buildings, Egyptian architecture, American rural Vernacular architecture, Moroccan architecture and Louis Sullivan in Cedar Rapids Iowa. Many slides are organized as lectures for various venues, including several on Hopi Housing.

Biographical Information

Jeremiah Iowa (also Jerome Iowa or Jeremy Iowa), a graduate of Cornell University, was an architectural designer in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and was an Eidlitz Architectural Fellow. A specialist in Southwestern Indian architecture, Mr. Iowa was the curator of the exhibition The Center Space: Pueblo Indian Architecture, first shown at the Museum of New Mexico and later developed as a traveling exhibition for other museums throughout the country. A lecturer and teacher in architectural theory and history, Mr. Iowa became known for his contributions in the field of solar design and straw bale architecture.
