Scope and Content
This artificial collection consists of photographs detailing the evolution of the historic building in downtown Santa Fe. Called El Palacio Real or the Palace of the Governors, the building served as the seat of government and residence of government officials in the past. However, all known photographs date to after the American occupation and document the building serving other functions in the 19th and 20th centuries, including the building's use by the Museum of New Mexico beginning in 1909.
Files in this collection may include original images, finding copies, and some copies of documents. Some exterior and interior images are chronologically arranged. Collection includes documentation of some restoration and archaeological projects.
