Prints and Negatives by Item Number, bulk: 1935-1965
Sub-Series
Scope and Contents
This series consists of large format negatives (4x5 to 8x10) kept by New Mexico Magazine, most of them dating from the late 1930s to the early 1960s. They are in order by subject category and item number originally assigned by the tourism department.
The related prints in the series are black and white silver gelatin prints made from the nitrate and acetate negatives in this series.
Prints seem to have been created in multiples to have on hand to fill press or reproduction requests. Many envelopes contained multiple typed captions, which would be glued to the copy photographs before distribution.
