Scope and Contents

  1. (1) Large manila envelope, marked “Zoo,” containing: (ca 70) 3x4 color prints; (8) photo envelopes, all marked “Zoo,” (3) containing 3x4 color prints and 35mm color negatives and (5) containing only 35mm color negatives; (3) white no. 10 envelopes, all marked “Zoo,” each containing 35mm color negatives, corresponding to prints; (1) Group of (2) contact sheets, one with post-it marked “former Abq Mayor or mgr,” containing 35mm BW images; subject – groups of office workers; (1) Manila envelope, marked “Dennis and Reggie Lovell,” containing (4) Fox Photo plastic envelopes, as follows: (1) containing (20) 4x6 color prints; (2) containing (24) 35mm color negatives; (3) containing (37) 35mm color negatives; 4) containing (36) 35mm color negatives and 10 4x6 color prints; subject = family portraits.
  2. Group, no. 10 White envelopes (3), rubber banded together, containing: (3) 4x6 color prints, subject = two men; (1) No. 10 envelope marked “unknown” on front and “3 8x10 follow composition outlined on proof!” and “print neg 19-19a” on back, containing 2 35mm color negatives in glassine sleeve and 4x6 color print with crop marks and marked “19-19a,” subject = family portraits; (1) No. 10 white envelope marked “1 8x10” “follow composition outlined on proof!” “print neg 5-5a”, containing (4) 35mm color negatives and (1) 4x6 color print, subject – woman and two men; (1) No. 10 white envelope marked “2 8x10” “follow composition outlined on proof!” “print neg 21-21a”, containing (4) 35mm color negatives and (1) 4x6 color print, subject = man and woman.
  3. Loose 8x10 sheet with (3) 2 ¼ contact prints, subject = small wild cat, country road, marked on back “70-60” and “15” in circle; (1) No. 10 white envelope, marked “unknown,” containing (ca 50) 4x6 color prints, some stuck together; subject = people, guitarist, groups, churches, sky; (1) Fox plastic photo envelope, unmarked, containing (ca. 30) 4x5 color prints and (ca 3) 35mm color negatives; subject = Aztec Dancers; (3) Loose 4x6 color prints; subject = guitarist; (1) Fox Photo plastic envelope, marked “Manuel Lujan at Hispanic Museum,” containing: (ca 36) 35mm color negatives; (ca 30) 4x6 color prints; and (1) small white folded paper containing (10) 4x6 color prints; subject = as marked; (1) White Share Your Snaps photo envelope, unmarked, containing: (4) 2x3 color negatives; and (4) 4x5 color prints (fading); subject = kachinas.

Group, rubber banded together, consisting of the following: (1) Fox plastic photo envelope, marked “1-“, containing ca. 35 4x5 color prints; subject = family portraits; (1) Fox Photo plastic sleeve, marked “2-,” containing (25) 35mm color negatives and (25) 4x6 color prints; subject = family photos; (1) Fox plastic photo envelope, marked “3-“, containing ca. 20 4x5 color prints; subject = portraits of man and woman; (1) Fox photo plastic sleeve, marked “unknown,” containing: (3) 5x7 BW print and (1) 4x5 BW print, subject = portrait of girl; and (1) White order envelope, marked “Kistler Collister Model,” containing unmounted 35mm color slide, subject = portrait of young woman; (1) White and Green envelope, unmarked, containing (3) 4x5 color prints; subject = balloons, Indian man with distinctive turquoise jewelry; (1) Small mylar envelope, containing (1) 3x4 color negative and print; subject = aspen grove. (1) Small white Send a Snapshot envelope, unmarked, containing (3) 3x4 color prints and corresponding 35mm color negatives; subject = 2 head shots and men shaking hands; (1) loose 4x6 color print, subject = interior of malt shop; (1) loose 3x4 color print, subject = woman in Indian dress.

Group of loose (ca 40) 3x4 color Polaroid prints, in plastic sleeves; subject = head shots, some landscapes; (1) Loose print, unmarked, 4x5 color print; subject = institutional building; (1) White no. 10 envelope, marked “Harry Kenny at the Zoo,” containing (7) 4x5 color prints; subject = Mayor Kenney at the Zoo; (6) 4x6 color prints, paper clipped together, unmarked, subject = dancers, clouds, buildings, portrait of boy, wooden Christ carving; (2) 4x6 color prints in plastic sleeve, with paper marked “Vic Izay” and “Theater ABQ”, subject = portrait of man.

Pink file folder, unmarked, containing: (1) 4x5 color print, subject = men appearing to drink from fountain; and (1) greeting card with note to JSC from “Noridin;” (1) 35mm BW negative, subject = mosque; (1) BW contact sheet; subject = mosque; (2) Loose color 4x6 color prints, one depicting The Leona Restaurant Campground and Procession, the second depicting an office interior; (1) white manila envelope, marked “John Candelario Nudes,” containing (ca 15) BW 8x10 prints and (ca 15) BW medium format contact prints (some badly fading); subject = nude studies; (1) white no. 10 envelope, marked “a lot of indian dancers,” containing (1) glassine envelope, marked “John’s bromide or platinum made from this neg,” containing (6) BW 2 ¼ negatives and (6) BW contact prints; subject = insect; (1) group of (2) 2 ¼ loose BW prints; subject = industrial operations; (3) loose 2x2 BW contact prints; subject = indian procession near church; (2) 2 ½ x 2 ½ BW prints with instructions; subject = White Sands.

No. 6193 Property of Museum of New Mexico, Photographer John Candelario . . . “; subject = large scale adobe making; (1) 8x10 BW print bearing marker on back (Cocks-Clark Engraving Company . . .); subject = horse drawn mail wagon; * MOVED to Candelario Presentation Collection (3) sheets (2 partial) of 2 ¼ color contact prints (faded); subject = building interiors; (1) masonite board (ca. 14x20), appears to be painted and/or etched.
