Identifier: HP.2022.05-NMHM.2022.014

Content Description

Charming photo album documenting a family and business trip in the southwest, which captures the southwest-flavored roaring 1920s tourist scene. Helen Cochran Brown's husband Archer Hitchcock Brown was a horse trader who may also have connections to Wild Bill Hickock's show. The family came from the east, arriving in Colorado Springs, and they visited many iconic places during their trip throughout New Mexico. Snapshots include scenes Santa Fe, Gallup (including the Ceremonial), Taos, Laguna, etc. Particularly interesting are the images of Forked Lightning Ranch and of Tex Austin.
