Jenny French: 2 photo albums with New Mexico scenes, 1915-1925
Content Description
Two photo albums dated 1915 - 1925 by Mona Morse Walker showing pueblos, family horseback trips, San Gabriel Ranch in Alcalde, NM, camping, and other other NM scenes. Mona Morse Walker was the grandmother of the donor's husband and was the wife of Roberts Walker. Roberts Walker had a deep attachment to the Southwest, and the family often came to New Mexico on vacations. In the early 1920's Roberts Walker was appointed as Chairman of the Pueblo Lands Board; both he and his wife were interested in, and valued, the culture of the Rio Grande Pueblos. Additional information about the family can be found in the accession paperwork. A letter from the donor states that the labels with the photos were created by the photographer's daughter years after the pictures were taken, and may not be accurate.
