(22) 16x20 Dimitri Baltermants prints from estate negatives of the Russian Patriotic War ca. 1941-45. Baltermants was considered the Robert Capa of the Russian Red Army. The Soviet photographer is best known for his pictures of Soviet battlefields during WWII. The prints are from the original negatives in his estate. This small collection focuses on the pain and suffering of war, the struggle of combat and everyday scenes that take place on and around the battlefield. Most of these prints are from the Russian/German front. His original prints are extremely rare and valuable. He is most widely known for his photographs of Nixon, and Castro visiting Russia. This set of prints from the original negatives will make an incredible addition to the Photo Archives and serve as a document on the subject of WWII by one of the most important photographers of that era.
