Identifier: HP.2006.19

Content Description

Approximately 51 binders of images (photographic prints, negatives, contact sheets, and 4 x 5 color transparencies) used in Red Crane Books publications plus additional non-photographic material transferred to the History Library (for details on this, please see accession papers). Red Crane Books was a small press in Santa Fe, NM, run by Michael and Marianne O'Shaughnessy for about ten years. Two very important groups of images show Navajo uranium miners and mines, and contemporary views of the Santa Fe Trail. There is a Taos portrait series. The bulk of the rest of the collection is photography of objects, including works of art and Spanish Colonial artifacts, many of which can be identified.
