Carlson & Colorado Railway photographs and ephemera
Content Description
1 35mm slide, 25 2 3/4 x 4 1/2 film negatives and 45 photographs of various sizes, all relating to the Carlson & Colorado Railway, ca. 1946-1962. Subjects include views in and around stations Aberdeen, Alico, Keeler, Laws, Manzanar, Mt. Whitney, Owenyo, and Searles, Engine Nos. 8, 9, and 18, freight cars SP 1, SP 5, SP 401, and other cars, the "Sage Brush Rocket" excursion train, narrow gauge equipment, rolling stock and track, water tanks, and views with passengers and workers. Other non-photographic materials and ephemera transferred to the History Library include a booklet ("The Slim Princess - The Story of the Southern Pacific Narrow Gauge" by John B. Hungerford, 1961, Hungerford Press), and 3x8 ticket (One [free] Walkinq Tour of Laws Railroad Museum, Bishop, California, July 17, 1968), a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 leaflet ("Farewell to the Slim Princess" Supplement to "The Slim Princess", Fourth Edition, Hungerford Press, Reseda, California), a 7 x 8 1/2 information folder (Carson & Colorado RR "Slim Princess," history and chronology by Bishop Museum & Historical Society), a magazine (Off the Beaten Track, Railway Annual No. 4, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 1955, Kolmbach Pub. Co.). 1 Super 8 mm film ("The Slim Princess," by Chad O'Conner, Seal Beach, California, Interurban Films) transferred to the video department.
